Hello everyone, I hope your week has been blessed.
Welcome to this week's blog.
This week officially kicked off the semester, and we
had the honor of welcoming a group of special guests who will be immersed in
learning English over the next few months. The class has been divided into
several work groups, and each week, two groups will be responsible for leading lessons and guiding our new students through various topics.
Regina's and William's groups were the first to step up, setting a vibrant
tone for the rest of the semester.
Regina's group kicked off the teaching sessions this week with the topic " Introducing Yourself ".
They explored the importance of introductions and why
we do it: to connect with others, make a strong first impression, and open up
conversations. When we introduce ourselves, we often share personal information
like our name, age, and where we’re from—details that help shape our identity
and create a sense of familiarity.
To wrap things
up, the group brought some fun energy by leading everyone in a sing-along to
The Beatles' classic, "Hello, Goodbye". It was a perfect way to reinforce the
theme and add musical flair to the lesson!
William's group took the spotlight this week, teaching
us how to use the verb to be in the simple present across positive, negative,
and question structures.
Positive: We use “to be” to describe characteristics,
locations, or states of being.
Example: She is a teacher.
Negative: To
form the negative, we add not after the verb to be.
Example: He is not at home.
Questions: When asking questions, we invert the
subject and the verb to be.
Example: Are
you ready? or is she here?
After the
lesson, we had a blast testing our knowledge and understanding with a Blooket
game, which kept everyone engaged and competitive.
And just like that, the first week of classes ended! It was an exciting start filled with energy and valuable lessons.
Next week, the spotlight will be on Celeste’s group and ours as we take on the challenge of leading the class. I’m eager to dive into our first teaching experience and can’t wait to share all the highlights and insights with you.
Here are some pictures of my friends:
Stay tuned, because next week promises to be just as engaging and full of surprises. See you then!
