Daily Routines- Listening + Reading

WELCOME BACK!

This week, we continued learning about daily routines, building on what we covered in the previous class. Through fun activities, reading exercises, and games, we strengthened our understanding of how to describe daily activities in English.

First class

Daily Routines-listening

In class today, we learned all about daily routines. Stephanie’s group started by explaining what a daily routine is – it´s the set of activities we do every day, like waking up, brushing our teeth, and going to work or school. To talk about these routines, we use the present simple tense, which is perfect for describing things that happen regularly.

Next, they showed us a video with different daily routines, and we practiced repeating some of the sentences we heard. This was a great way to learn vocabulary and see the present simple in action.

Then, something fun happened! We listened to the song TikTok by Ke$ha, but we noticed the structure of the sentences in the song wasn’t quite right. So, we worked together to correct the sentences, practicing using the correct grammar when talking about daily activities.

After that, we got to create and share our own daily routines. For example, here’s my daily routine: "I usually wake up at 4:30 AM and take a cold shower. Afterward, I put on my clothes and shoes, brush my teeth, and prepare my lunch box. I usually request an Uber and head to work. I usually arrive at 5:20 AM, and my shift starts at 5:30 AM, finishing at 1 PM."

We formed a circle and played hot potato, where we passed around a ball and took turns sharing our routines. It was a fun way to get everyone involved!

Towards the end of the class, we listened to two audio and answered some questions about them. Finally, we received an exit ticket where we wrote down our favorite activity from the lesson and explained why it was our favorite.

Overall, it was a fun and interactive way to learn about daily routines, practice the present simple, and improve our English!

Second Class

 Daily Routines - Reading

Regina started by explaining how this class was connected to the previous one. We kicked things off with a creative activity where we created a story using all the letters of the alphabet. It was a fun way to get our minds warmed up! After that, we sang a song related to daily routines, which helped reinforce some of the vocabulary we learned.

Nataly and Kedim took the lead by teaching us new vocabulary. They introduced key terms related to daily routines, expanding our understanding and preparing us for the next activity.

Then, Misael introduced the main task of the class. He explained that we would read a story about the daily routines of two characters, Maria and Alex. We were given 10 minutes to read through the story, and afterward, we answered a series of questions about their routines, practicing both reading comprehension and applying the new vocabulary we had just learned.

Then, we formed groups of six students, and each group was given chunks of a story. Our task was to work together to put the pieces in the correct order. The story was also about a daily routine, so it helped us further understand how daily activities are structured in a narrative. It was a great team exercise, allowing us to apply everything we had learned so far while practicing our reading and comprehension skills.

Finally, we wrapped up the class by playing Kahoot. The game was all about daily routines, testing our understanding of the vocabulary, story structure, and grammar we had learned. It was a fun and competitive way to review everything, and it definitely kept everyone engaged and excited until the end of the lesson!

That's it for this week—see you next week!
